Scrap weight value
We start from the typical curb weight of your vehicle class and multiply by current scrap-steel pricing for Minnesota yards. Heavier vehicles are worth more in scrap — a fullsize truck nets roughly twice what a compact sedan does.
Year & demand
Newer vehicles carry parts demand that pre-2000 cars don't. We add a small bonus for 2006+ vehicles and subtract a touch for pre-1996 cars where parts won't fit anything still on the road.
Condition bonuses
Catalytic converters, complete drivetrains, intact wheels, and running engines each add real value. A complete running car can be worth $300+ more than the same car parted out and dragged in on a flatbed.
